British Citizens

The British Embassy in Italy website has a comprehensive guide on subjects related to Moving to Italy

The British Embassy in Rome and regional Consular Offices provide a range of services and information for Britons in Italy including detailed information on the following: information on passport details and the registration of intended residence; registration of births, marriages and deaths; judicial assistance information, information for travellers and more. There are British Consulates in Milan, Florence, Naples and Venice.

The British Consulate General in Milan has jurisdiction over its nationals in Lombardy. It deals with requests for visas, passports, commercial information and general consular enquiries. It also provides a range of services to help UK companies develop their business in Italy.

Britons in Italy

The British Government website has a section for Britons living abroad. The information is not specific to Italy but provides useful facts relevant to moving, relocating with a family or retiring abroad. It includes information on tax and pensions, education, employment, insurance, as well as having information on everything to be considered when returning to the UK after a period of time overseas.

The Consulates-General in Milan's Citizens Service provides services to American citizens in Lombardy including: information on passport details and the registration of intended residence; registration of births, marriages and deaths; information on driving, travelling in and visiting Italy; security tips; employment issues for the employer and employee and information concerning American organisations in Italy. It also provides consular services to American businesses in Italy.

Canadian Citizens

The website of the Canadian Embassy in Rome has some very useful information for Canadian citizens planning a move to, or living in Italy. The information includes notes, check lists and tips on all aspects of the move, from planning the departure, the time spent in Italy and the return.

In early 2007, the services provided by the Milan Consular Office moved to Rome offices. The Consulate General in Rome has both Trade and Consular Sections. The Trade Section aims to promote Italian-Canadian business relationships and offers advice to Canadian companies in Italy. The Consular section helps Canadian citizens with emergency passport applications and citizenship issues. It also provides and validates documentation.
